2020 Beans

Our inaugural bean season had it all: Cutworms, drought, hail . . . . But, the beans held their own. We were lucky to have a relatively dry harvest period. We (myself, my family, and a farm friend) hand-harvested and almost 400 pounds of dry beans, a little more than expected. Not bad, not bad.

Most of the 2020 beans were grown on land generously granted by my “day job” employer, the Food Farm. The Food Farm is a certified organic farm in Wrenshall, MN and I follow all applicable organic standards that are required. I grew all of the pole beans at my home in Superior, WI following the same practices. No matter where I am growing, I am dedicated to following organic and sustainable practices in order to provide fresh, healthy food for the community that also cares for the soil and the surrounding ecosystems.
