2020 bean field, early September. As the beans begin to dry down, rain is not really desired. Luckily, there were only a few sprinkles. The beans stayed dry and we still got this lovely evening double rainbow. Win-win.

Welcome to

Four Beans Farm!

Four Beans Farm is a small-scale bean and vegetable farm serving communities in northern Wisconsin and Minnesota. We use sustainable and organic practices to grow nutritious and delicious food for local communities while preserving and improving soil and local ecosystems. We believe that building a strong local food system directly benefits the environment, the local economy, and the community.

Buying our Beans

Currently, we are selling our beans and produce through the North Shore Farmers Collective and Twin Ports REKO. These groups are both outlets for local small farms to sell their products and build a strong local food economy and community. The participating farms all use sustainable and regenerative practices because they also care about growing food in ways that are gentle and healing to the soil, environment, and community. Support Four Beans Farm and the local farm community by checking out and ordering from NSFC and Twin Ports REKO.

(You can always connect directly with us if you would like to purchase beans.)

North Shore Farmers Collective

The North Shore Farmers Collective is a group of beginning women farmers joining together to offer a monthly collection of seasonal vegetables, fruits and other farm products through the 2021 season. Farmers are all from the Duluth region. We will offer monthly boxes May through October with an extra bonus box in September. Boxes will be offered as monthly subscriptions and as one-time purchases. This collaboration supports ten different farms as they establish their businesses and strengthen our regional food system. This project aspires to grow in coming years and be a viable marketing opportunity for other beginning farmers in and around Duluth.

Twin Ports REKO

REKO, which translates to “real or sincere consumption”, is a local food trade model that began in Finland in 2013. It grew to be remarkably successful across Europe and is now becoming popular in the US. Simply, the REKO model uses Facebook as a platform for consumers to directly connect with and order from local farmers and food producers.

Twin Ports REKO producers offer a variety of fresh, locally grown items (seasonal herbs and vegetables, fruits, wild rice, honey, eggs, meat, flowers and plant starts) as well as locally made items (breads and bakery items, jams, coffee, fermented foods). This gives customers (you!) choice and convenience while still supporting local producers outside of farmers markets and CSAs.
