      <image:title>Home - Twin Ports REKO</image:title>
<image:caption>REKO, which translates to “real or sincere consumption”, is a local food trade model that began in Finland in 2013. It grew to be remarkably successful across Europe and is now becoming popular in the US. Simply, the REKO model uses Facebook as a platform for consumers to directly connect with and order from local farmers and food producers. Twin Ports REKO producers offer a variety of fresh, locally grown items (seasonal herbs and vegetables, fruits, wild rice, honey, eggs, meat, flowers and plant starts) as well as locally made items (breads and bakery items, jams, coffee, fermented foods). This gives customers (you!) choice and convenience while still supporting local producers outside of farmers markets and CSAs.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Home - North Shore Farmers Collective</image:title>
<image:caption>The North Shore Farmers Collective is a group of beginning women farmers joining together to offer a monthly collection of seasonal vegetables, fruits and other farm products through the 2021 season. Farmers are all from the Duluth region. We will offer monthly boxes May through October with an extra bonus box in September. Boxes will be offered as monthly subscriptions and as one-time purchases. This collaboration supports ten different farms as they establish their businesses and strengthen our regional food system. This project aspires to grow in coming years and be a viable marketing opportunity for other beginning farmers in and around Duluth. Follow North Shore Farmers Collective on Facebook and Instagram to learn more. Click below to purchase a monthly subscription.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - The farm.</image:title>
<image:caption>Currently, we grow in two locations. Most of 2020’s beans were grown in Wrenshall, MN on land generously granted by my “day job” employer, the Food Farm. They are a certified organic farm, and while I can not use their certification, I do support and follow all required organic standards. I also grow at my home in Superior, WI. In 2016 we purchased an empty lot adjacent to our home and have been growing for our personal use there. All of the pole beans were grown here in 2020. I also use organic and sustainable growing practices at home. We have also been building soil and planting native plants and perennials. In 2021, most of the beans will be again grown in Wrenshall, along with some fall veggies. Pole beans and spring veggies will be grown in Superior. While we look forward to finding the right place for us to grow the farm in the coming years, there are things that I love about growing in both locations. The different scales, soil types, and weather conditions allow for learning and implementing a variety of growing techniques and strategies. In town, our little “urban farm” is very visible to the public. This gives us the opportunity to chat with our neighbors and educate them about what foods and flowers we are growing here. And the kids enjoy teaching and sharing with their friends. You can follow Four Beans Farm on Facebook and Instagram to see what is growing and our farm’s progress. Thanks for supporting local food!</image:caption>

      <image:title>About - See Jane farm.</image:title>
<image:caption>Hi everyone! I’m Jane Marynik and I am the owner/farmer of Four Beans Farm. In 2008, my partner and I, along with our two kids, moved to Superior, WI. Since then, our family has grown and I went from stay-at-home mom to college student to farmer. Farming had never been on my “when I grow up” list, but a combination of environmental concerns, a child’s food allergies, and fortuitous encounters, pulled me down this path. I completed my degrees in Biology and Environment and Sustainability from UMD in 2019. I have worked at several local farms over the last five years, including Shubat’s Fruits, the UMD Land Lab, and the Food Farm (where I am still employed). While the farm dream is mine, my partner, Craig and our four kids are incredibly supportive and helpful. They enjoy time spent together in the gardens and love following the seed to plate process. My oldest child has an interest in native plants and also works on a farm in the summer. My youngest takes care of our laying hens and has dreams of having his own chicken operation someday. When were are not farming, we enjoy hiking, camping, and hanging out by Lake Superior.</image:caption>
